STEYNING FESTIVAL PSYCHOGEOGRAPHY WALK WITH FESTIVAL ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE CHRIS DOOKS
‘If memory had a sound, it might well be a bit like this’
The Scotsman
Chris Dooks will be presenting his site-specific sound art tour of Steyning in this special festival event, commissioned by Steyning Festival and funded by Arts Council England. A true first for the festival and Steyning, this is set to be a highlight of the 2009 programme.
After several weeks immersed in the life of Steyning in the spring, visual and sound artist Chris Dooks has created an audio and visual map of the town which he will walk you through today. With Chris you will explore the streets and open areas of the town, engaging in its heritage, myths and stories, reflections and reminisces of its residents.
Chris comments: ‘Despite high-brow intentions, I am a cheeky and approachable artist and love to become a part of the community I am working in. The most important thing about me I reckon, is that I am all about the social. Whether making my own work, teaching, lecturing or running workshops, I like to look people in the eye. I mean |
