WILDING – Steyning Festival Film

What’s it about?

Steyning Festival Film to be shown in conjunction with Steyning Film Society.

Directed by David Allen

United Kingdom, 2023

Documentary

75 mins

This beautiful, warmly sunlit, dramatised documentary is based on Isabella Tree’s book of the same name and tells the story of a young couple who inherit a failing four-hundred-year-old farm estate at Knepp in the Sussex Weald. Defeated by the state of the soil they set about rewilding the land embracing the help of both domestic and resident or newly-arriving wild creatures.

According to the director, the film shows “. . . how unproductive and forgotten corners of our planet can be made whole again” and has “. . . one of the rarest of things: a message of environmental hope.”

David Allen, the director of Wilding, will join us after the film for a Q&A.
