Finntopia: eradicating the extremes of inequality that blights our society

19:30 - 21:30

Doors Open: 19:00
Artist: Professor Danny Dorling
Venue: Methodist Church
Adult Ticket: £12.00
Under 18 Ticket: £7.00
Danny Dorling , Professor of Human Geography at the University of Oxford and a frequent commentator on TV and radio, argues that now is the hour to turn our attention to what really went so very wrong for Britain: accepting gross inequality. In the press he has been described as "that rare university professor: expert, politically engaged and able to explain simply why his subject matters.”

The gap between rich and poor in the UK is greater than anywhere else in Europe. By 2019 life expectancy is falling, infant mortality is rising, and living standards have fallen faster within the last decade than in any previous decade on record – for most people, other than the very rich.

In his talk Danny Dorling will refer to Finland which is currently the worlds happiest country with the lowest rate of social inequality and childhood poverty.
