GREEN DAY: Wildlife Corridor with Interactive map + short talks by Weald 2 Waves

What’s it about?

Interactive map + short talks by Weald 2 Waves + garden wildlife film clips showing in
background plus children’s activities on Wildlife Corridor Theme

Featuring Keith Ellis from Moving Sounds, and storyteller Jon Mason.
The Steyning Festival will be bursting into life with a fun-packed ‘Green Day’ focusing on all things ‘eco’. All the local environmental groups are involved and there will be loads of stalls and activities, many of them aimed at children.
This year there will be a particular focus on Wildlife Corridors. It starts with a “Wildlife Corridor Adventure” – a children’s parade, looping around the Fletchers Croft area, led by musical theatre group, Moving Sounds. It is designed for children from 0-8, who need to be accompanied by an adult or older sibling. Youngsters will be encouraged to disguise themselves with animal and bird masks, and adults will be asked to carry tree branches and use them to create imaginary hedges and woods where the adventure will play out.
Carrying on this theme, there will be storyteller with tales of the wild and often endangered creatures in our midst.
In the Big Top Tent you’ll be able to hear about the ‘Weald to Waves’ project and its ambitious plan to create wildlife corridors all over Sussex. You can join in by putting your garden ‘On the Map’ – placing a pin in giant map of Bramber, Beeding and Steyning – to help connect up our gardens and create nature corridors in our own back gardens.
To kick Green Day off, there will be a parade for electric vehicles and e-Bikes followed by a showcase where you can quiz the proud owners about their cars and bikes.
